Restaurante Casa da Igreja

Casa da Igreja is one of those places you’ll never forget. There are only a few tables outside and you’ll have to get there early to find a seat. But Casa da Igreja is one of the best places in the world to eat fresh oysters. And the Portuguese writer, journalist and restaurant critic Miguel Esteves Cardoso ate the best clams of his life here.

Located next to the church of the beautiful village of Cacela-a-Velha, it has a great view over Ria Formosa and the sea. If you look closely, you can even watch the fishermen pick up your oysters and mussels in the lagoon below the restaurant. It’s perfect for a cold beer and some fresh seafood after a long day at Fabrica Beach.

If you are lucky, you may even see a wedding party at the entrance to the church.
