Fábrica Beach near Cacela-a-Velha is undoubtedly among Portugal’s most beautiful beaches. In 2015 the Spanish edition of Condé Nast Traveller included it in its list of the world’s top 15 beaches. In 2009 the Guardian voted Fábrica one of the “Top 10 European beaches by foot“.
Despite this praise, Fábrica remains humble. You’ll search in vain for a bar or restaurant. If you happen to be among the last to take the small motorboat back, the fisherman may ask if you remembered to lock the beach behind you.
