In 2015 Portuguese writer, journalist and restaurant critic Miguel Esteves Cardoso declared Noélia e Jerónimo in Cabanas the “world’s best restaurant”. Even though he might have been slightly drunk when he wrote this, chief Noélia’s take on the Portuguese and Mediterranean cuisine is innovative and clearly stands out from the normal Algarvian menu. If you go here once, you’ll always come back. Our favourites are: “Tártato de Atum”, “Pataniscas de Polvo”, “Tártaro de Salmão”, “Arroz de Limão com Corvina”, “Arroz de Ostras”, “Polvo Trapalhão” or just a grilled fish or steak … If you saved some apetite for the desert, ask for the “Pudim do Abade de Priscos”!
If you’re not yet convinced, read this review at Portugal Confidential. The perfect place to have lunch before or after spending a few hours at Cabanas beach.
In the evening, the restaurant is fully booked weeks in advance, even in winter! So make your reservation as early as possible or come before 7.30 or after 9.30 p.m.
